NextGen Charge ("we", "us") provides an app to monitor and control electric-vehicle chargers. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights. We are the data controller for the information you provide through the app.
Account details you provide: name, email address, and home/installation address. Charger data: the chargers linked to your account, their status, live telemetry (power, current, voltage, temperature), charging sessions, energy used and estimated cost. Technical data: app version, device type, and connection status needed to operate the service.
If you link an Octopus Energy account, we store your account number and API key only to fetch your tariff and unit rates so we can price your charging accurately. The API key is encrypted at rest and never shared. You can unlink at any time, which deletes the stored credentials.
Bluetooth is used solely to communicate with a nearby charger when it is offline. On Android, the system requires location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices; we do not collect, store, or share your location, and Bluetooth data stays between your phone and the charger.
To operate the app: show charger status, start/stop charging, apply schedules and Plug & Charge, and calculate session costs. To keep the service secure and reliable. We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.
We share data only with service providers that help us run the platform (e.g. hosting) and, where you choose to link it, the Octopus Energy API to retrieve your tariff. We may disclose data where required by law.
We keep account and charging data for as long as your account is active. Charging history is retained to show your usage and costs. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict processing, and request a copy of your data. To exercise these rights, contact info@nextgencharge.co.uk.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encrypt sensitive credentials at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
